Graduate Aptitude Test-Biotechnology (GAT-B) Exam

Graduate Aptitude Test-Biotechnology (GAT-B) is an All-India Entrance Examination to test the eligibility of bonafide Indian nationals for admissions to Department of Biotechnology DBT supported Post Graduate programmes in Biotechnology and allied areas, at Participating Institutions/Universities in India. 

DBT supported Post Graduate programmes include: 

1. M.Sc. Biotechnology and allied areas 
2. M.Tech. Biotechnology and allied areas 3. M.Sc. Agricultural Biotechnology  
4. M.V.Sc. Animal Biotechnology. 

 Qualified candidates of GAT-B 2022, admitted to DBT supported Post Graduate programmes in Biotechnology and allied areas Stipends are

a) M.Sc. Biotechnology & Allied Areas - Rs.5000/- per month 
b) M.Sc. Agricultural Biotechnology - Rs.7500/- per month 
c) M.Tech. / M.V.Sc. programmes - Rs.12000/- per month 


Eligibility criteria 
BTech, B.Sc, B.Sc(hons) in biotechnology, Life Sciences / Biology or any area of Biology from any recognized University/ College with minimum 50% marks and above.

Mode of Examinations 
 The Examinations will be conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode.  

Pattern of Question Papers  
The pattern of question papers will comprise Multiple Choice Questions in the following areas as given below. 
 
1.  Section A (Multiple choice questions of the level of 10+2 in the subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology) 
60 Questions (all mandatory)
Each question carries 1 mark
Negative marking 0.5 mark deducted from 1 mark
60 × 1 = 60 marks 

2.  Section B (Multiple choice questions of Graduate / Bachelor’s level in the subjects: Basic Biology, Life Sciences, Biotechnology and allied areas as per syllabus given)
100 Questions (only attempt 60 Questions)
Each question carries 3 Marks
Negative marking 1mark deducted from 3 Marks 
60 × 3 = 180

TOTAL: Section A+ Section B= 240 Marks

Medium of Examination  
The medium of Question Papers for the examinations shall be English only. 

Timings of Examinations 
The examinations will be conducted in a single shift for a duration of 180 minutes / 3 hours.
